Distract/Pilfer

Been thinking on ways to make ventriloquism valid and viable.

What if We scapped it as a spell for bards and make it for bards and rogues
as a skill?

New Skill Proposal:

Distract -

Bards and Rogues in their intermediary training phase are able to distract
others with various sounds.

First distract sound - Bird calls

This distract call if successful will give a thief an advantage in
pickpocketing more gold on top of its skill level ability.

Second distract sound - Buzzing insects

Gives bards access to new skill called 'pilfer' (a quick access steal gold
skill only). Gives Rogues an increased opportunity to steal larger amounts
of gold from others.

Third distract sound - Hissing snake

Causes others to jump slightly, giving rogues again increased advantage to
steal larger amounts of gold. Gives Bards an increased opportunity to steal
more gold.

Let me know what you think?

Re: Distract/Pilfer

Wouldn't this serve to give me as the victim an immediate message that someone is trying to steal from me, and look/leave the room/go to safe to all the more quickly identify you?

Re: Distract/Pilfer

The idea was to make it so people wouldn't know, much like Ventriloquism is meant to work.

Anyways... I have been talking with Groth and we considered looking at Ventriloquism more to turn it into a more viable and useful spell.

What if ventriloquism is turned into a skill for bards and is called "Throw Voice"

This would be more of an RP skill ability allowing a bard to tell stories with so much guile, they're able to dazzle the crowd if the crowd fails the saving throw. If they do, the crowd will see and hear what the bard wants them to see and hear. If the crowd succeeds the saving throw, they will see the bard failing to make the sound their attempting to mimic, and the crowd will be able to heckle the bard. This can especially be good for bards who want to RP as performers etc at inns or taverns.

New direction for Distract:

What if it is a skill used solely for Rogues only where they're able to distract their opponents in PK to end and exit combat, leaving their opponent stunned for one round of combat.

Distract could be a flashbang or smoke bomb.

Re: Distract/Pilfer

How about a flashbang hides the next 2-3 player "<Name> flees <direction>" or "<Name> leaves <south>" messages - going in line with the escape tool idea
Yeah? Well, you know, that's just like, your OPINION, man.

Re: Distract/Pilfer

I think the stealthier classes could get a passive that hides the direction the player fled to.
Savings throw versus...intelligence (or wisdom) of the opponent and penalties based on how hurt is the character.

The idea it would be easier seeing which direction a bleeding character fled to.

Re: Distract/Pilfer

^ believe that's only true if sneak isn't broken (such as from being damaged).

What I was suggesting is more like what the "thief" mob has: basically a sneak that isn't broken by damage.
It would be painful on PK though. Nevermind about the idea lol
