Some Combat Skills + Melee Damage Info

People have asked in the past what some combat skills do, and I now have that data.

Enhanced Damage

Enhanced Damage is has a: Skill% chance of adding 2 * (Damage * d100 / 300) damage to your output.

Sharp

Sharp weapons give you a: (Weapon Skill / 8)% chance of doing (2*Damage) + (12.5%*(2*Damage)
or, a 12.5% chance (at 100) to do double damage plus 12.5% of the doubled damage.

Critical Strike

Critical Strike has a chance per class (5% Barbarian or 15% Warrior) to multiply damage by 3/2.

In addition, your damage output is changed by:

Weapon skill (output diminishes as your skill diminishes)

If you're wearing a shield or not (damage increases slightly if you don't have a shield on

If your victim is awake (you do double damage to sleeping victims, plus the known ability for any class to land backstab)

If your victim is fighting (you gain a damage bonus if your victim isn't fighting or standing, and does not stack with sleeping).
Yeah? Well, you know, that's just like, your OPINION, man.

Re: Some Combat Skills + Melee Damage Info

So...assuming that a barbarian (or warrior) hits for 30 damage [devastates: 29-32] in average and his sharp does 37.5 extra damage:

- Exists a 12.5% chance that the barbarian (or warrior) deals 67.5 damage in a single hit, which equals a *** DEVASTATES *** [61-75]
#1 Exists a 0.6% (1.9% for warrior) chance that the barbarian deals 101 damage in a single hit (sharp + CS), right at >>> ANNIHILATES <<< range [101-125]
#2 Exists a 0.6% (1.9% for warrior) chance that the barbarian deals 82.5 damage in a single hit (sharp + CS) : === OBLITERATES ===

There are two options because it isn't really clear whether the Critical Strike and Sharp multiply each other (#1) or are both based on the <base damage> (#2).

Either way, I have never seen the damage from either of those classes jump from devastates to *** DEVASTATES ***, let alone === OBLITERATES ===
I might be entirely missing something here but 30 damage seemed like a fair assumption.

It doesn't make sense running the extra damage from Sharp and CS through mitigation again because I'm already using mitigated values as baselines.
But it still might be interesting knowing what affects the damage mitigation, like how magic ward, sanctuary and other contributions...

Damage is calculated by applying Sharp THEN Enhanced Damage THEN Critical Strike. In addition, there isn't a cool down associated with sharp firing similar to how vorpal works.

Re: Some Combat Skills + Melee Damage Info

Then I would have to break down the 30 damage hit from ED to know the base damage: 22 + 2 * (22 * 51 / 300) = 29.4 in average (devastates)

Following the steps:
#1 Sharp: 22 * 2.25 = 49.5 in average (MASSACRES)
#2 Enhanced Damage: 49.5 + 2 * (49.5 * 51 / 300) = 66.2 in average -> so ED buffs the proc to *** DEVASTATES ***
#3 Critical Strike: 66.2 * 1.5 = 99.3 in average -> taking the Sharp proc to === OBLITERATES ===

And ED + Critical Strike alone do: 29.4 * 1.5 = 44.1, which is DISEMBOWELS.

The conclusions didn't really change, except for the fact that sharp is excellent for warriors and barbarians...in theory.

Re: Some Combat Skills + Melee Damage Info

In addition to all the things Some Guy said affect damage, the final modifier is damroll. The calculation goes:
Base damage(based on weapon dice. for instance, 8d8)
Skill modifier(at 100%, multiply by 1...90% by .9 etc)
Shield modifier(multiply by 11/10 if not wearing shield)
Sharp modifer
Enhanced damage modifer
Critical Strike modifer
Victim awake
victim fighting
Backstab?
and FINALLY damroll.

The way damroll is thrown in is: If all of the above calculations fire, you end up with diceroll from x to y. where x is minimum damage and y is maximum. Damroll(and the strength modifier for it) is then added directly do your diceroll. so if your damroll is 50 your final dice will be (x+50 through y+50).

Return to This is how it actually fucking works
