Monks and Exotics and Vorpals

I found a hand to hand weapon that can possibly be turned into a vorpal
weapons to support monks. The blackjack found at the murderous wyrm, since
it is the same location where they find the bewitched rapier. Only reason I
ask this is because of the lack of quest weapons available for monks. Most
quest weapons are "exotic" weapons, but monks can't use exotic weapons.
Only hand to hand.

People will argue the fact, yes, monks can use exotic weapon. You are
absolutely correct, they can use exotic weapons, but.... Monks lose palm
block. Do regular classes use shield block if they use exotic weapons?
Nope.

Some ideas:

1. Switch bewitched rapier into a hand to hand weapon. Those who has the
rapier now can keep it, rare weapon.

2. Monks should be able to use exotic weapons without affecting palm block.

1 - I'd much rather see a hand-to-hand vorpal weapon added to the game, then to change the rapier. Any changes to it would effect the current ones in the game.
2- Yes. That's kind of crappy.

Monks using exotics and maintaining the ability to use monk skills makes total sense. In any of the games that generally serve as system inspirations (DnD etc) for a mud, there are a number of weapon exceptions for monks, and while we don't have the ability to split exotics apart for a single classes use, I see no reason to futher limit an already crippled class.


As for the hand to hand vorpal, I agree with Spidertown that it's just a building issue that can be addressed without potentially harming other players with a fix.

Just bumping this more or less.

Can we get a vorpal AND a sharp for monks, in game? Other classes have an option for use either. Monks have access to neither.

And/or can we get it so monks using exotics don't lose palm block (and dragon punch, I am pretty sure)?

With monks now being able to use 2H as 1H for hand-to-hand, I'd like to see all hand weapons go to 2H, myself. Maybe one or two 1H's for posterity, but they wouldn't be great. The reason is that we look h2h away from new chars except monks. We grandfathered in old chars who took hand to hand so they could keep it (it doesn't show up on their skill list, but you can tell you have when you're disarmed), but this would be an additional change to allow the 'perk' of h2h to be something exclusive to monk.

Sharp/Vorpal? Ok. (Except that I hate them both and wish they would die a terrible death)
Exotic? Doesn't hurt my feelings.

I agree with you on vorpal, less so sharp, but if both got nerfed I wouldn't shed a tear.

But as is, for the moment, they exist. My problem with going all 2h on h2h then, would be that you can't soul gem tailor 2h weapons. Not a big deal, really, 30 soul gems isn't a whole lot different from 40 soul gems (to add vorpal and change a weapon type), but something to consider.

Soul-gem weapons are the reason they can't get nerfed much or everyone who added vorpal or sharp to a weapon is going to be really pissed at me. Including me.
